About Object Dictionary Editing

< All Topics

These tools provide a user-friendly way to edit the definitions of objects within the Object Dictionary. Objects are automatically created and recreated as changes are made.

All object editing windows have a menu from which different actions can be requested. In addition, a floating tool bar is usually visible from which certain common actions can also be requested. The main available actions are

Description

When you edit a particular class of objects, you are using one of two views:

  • table view

  • form view

Table View

In this view, you see some of the information from several objects at one time. You can scroll through the data, select different subsets of data to view, and sort the data, but you cannot update the data in the table view.

Form View

In this view, you see data from only one object (either an existing object or a new object). Most of the fields can be updated. As soon as you make a change, the OK and Cancel become active. When you press OK, your changes are accepted and the object is (re)created. If you press Cancel, your changes are discarded.
