A Summary of Keyboard and Mouse Actions

The following table summarizes how the mouse or the keyboard can be used to carry out typical painting actions.

Select a widget.

Place the mouse cursor over the widget and click the left button.

Move the pointer, using the direction keys, over the widget and press F7.

Select an additional widget.

Place the mouse cursor over the widget, hold down Shift, and click on the left mouse button.

Move the pointer, using the direction keys, over the widget. Press the Shift key sequence (as defined in ZIMTCAP) and then press F7.

Select the "next" widget.

Tab selects the "next" widget (as determined by the Z-order). If no widget is already selected, the "first" widget is selected Backtab selects the "previous" widget (as determined by the Z-order). If no widget is already selected, the "last" widget is selected.

Select an underlying widget.

This action is used to select widgets that lie beneath another widget that is already selected. Place the mouse cursor over the widget, hold down Ctrl, and click the left mouse button.

This action is used to select widgets that lie beneath another widget that is already selected. Move the pointer (using the direction keys) over the widget. Press the Ctrl key sequence (as defined in ZIMTCAP) and press F7.

Add a widget.

Select a widget type from the GALLERY menu. Place the mouse cursor where you want the new widget to be located. Click on the left mouse button.

Select a widget type from the Gallery menu. Place the pointer (using the direction keys) where you want the new widget to be located. Press F7.

Delete a widget or widgets.

Select the widget(s) to be deleted. Press Delete.

Move a widget or widgets.

Select the widget(s) to be moved. Use the mouse to drag the widget(s) to the new location. Position the mouse cursor over one of the selected widgets. Press down the left mouse button and hold. Drag the mouse until the widget(s) is(are) located in the desired location. Release the mouse button.
Note: If only one widget is selected, avoid positioning the mouse cursor over the bottom right corner of the widget (the resize handle). Dragging here resizes the widget.

Select the widget(s) to be moved. Position the pointer (using the direction keys) over one of the selected widgets. Press F4 to start the move operation. Move the widgets using the direction keys until the widget(s) is(are) located in the desired location. Press F4 to end the move operation.
Note: If only one widget is selected, avoid positioning the pointer over the bottom right corner of the widget (the resize handle). Dragging here resizes  the widget.

Resize a widget.

Select the widget to be resized. Use the mouse to resize the widget to its new size. Position the mouse cursor over bottom right selection handle (the resize handle). Press down the left mouse button and hold. Drag the mouse until the widget is the desired size. Release the mouse button.

Select the widget to be resized. Position the pointer (using the direction keys) over bottom right selection handle (the resize handle). Press F4. Use the direction keys to change the size of the widget. Press F4 to end the resize operation.

Edit widget attributes.

Select the widget(s) to be edited.

Double click over one of the selected widgets; or
Select ATTRIBUTES from the EDIT menu; or
Press the Ctrl key sequence and then press Enter.

Position the pointer over one of the widgets and press F8; or
Select ATTRIBUTES from the EDIT menu; or
Press the Ctrl key sequence and then press Enter.

Display widget properties.

Click the right mouse button over the widget. A dialog is displayed that shows the widget's name, row, column, width and height. The object is also selected if it were not already selected.

Position the pointer (using the direction keys) over the widget. Press F9. A dialog is displayed that shows the widget's name, row, column, width and height. The object is also selected if it was not were already selected.

Display an underlying widget's properties.

Press the Ctrl key sequence (as defined in ZIMTCAP). Then click the right mouse button over an already selected widget. The widget beneath the selected widget becomes selected. A dialog is displayed that shows the widget's name, row, column, width and height.
Note that Double Click, when the mouse cursor is over an unselected widget, selects that widget and then invokes the Edit Attributes dialog.
