The layout mode Arrange menu provides a number of different object alignment options. The Align item in this menu is a cascade menu item which when selected, presents a vertical list of graphical representations of the alignment options. From top to bottom, these are align left, align vertically centered, align right, align top, align horizontally centered, and align bottom.
The alignment operations require a minimum of two selected objects. This is because one of the selected objects acts as the anchor object to which the other selected objects are appropriately aligned. When multiple objects are selected, the anchor object is the one which has gray-filled selection handles. All the other selected objects have outline selection handles. When you have a set of selected objects, you can change the anchor object by clicking on another selected object. You can also add objects to, or remove objects from, the selection set by holding down the Shift key and clicking on an unselected object or a selected object respectively.
The different alignment options operate as shown in the following table:
Alignment | Description |

The align left operation aligns the left-most position of the other objects in the selection set to the left-most position of the anchor object. |
