Editing Object Attributes

When objects are added, they are assigned default attributes by the painter. When you add a new object, the Add <Object Type> dialog is presented. You have the choice of accepting the painter's attribute defaults for the time being (e.g. if you wish to quickly lay out a form) or edit the attributes of each object as it is added by clicking on the Attributes... push button in the Add Form Field and Add Menu Item dialogs, or changing the attributes directly in the Add Form and Add Menu dialogs.

To edit or view the attributes of an object, double click on the object or click on the object to select it and press Ctrl+Enter or click on the Attribute Edit icon in the tool bar. The edit dialog appropriate to the type of object selected is displayed.

If multiple items have been selected, the appropriate edit dialog for each object type is presented for each object in turn. The edit dialogs are presented in order of increasing Z-Order of the selected objects (as shown in the structure chart). The edit dialog for the next selected object is displayed if you click on the OK push button in the current edit dialog. Clicking on the Cancel push button ends the editing process. Any changes to attributes made through the edit dialogs by clicking on the OK push button is applied.

All edit operations can be undone by clicking on the Undo icon in the tool bar or selecting the Undo <Operation> item from the Edit menu.
