Same Sizing Objects

The layout mode Arrange menu provides a number of different object "same size" options. The Same size item in this menu is a cascade menu item which when selected, presents a vertical list of graphical representations of the "same size" options. From top to bottom, these are same width and same height.

The same-sizing operations require a minimum of two selected objects. This is because one of the selected objects acts as the "anchor" object to which the other selected objects are appropriately sized. When multiple objects are selected, the "anchor" object is the one which has gray-filled selection handles. All other selected objects have outline selection handles. When you have a set of selected objects, you can change the "anchor" object by clicking on some other selected object. You can also add objects to, or remove objects from the selection set by holding down the Shift key and clicking on an unselected object or a selected object respectively.

The same-sizing options operate as shown in the following table:

Operation

Description

The same width operation adjusts the width of all objects in the selection set other than the anchor object, so that their width is equal to that of the anchor object.

The same height operation adjusts the height of all objects in the selection set other than the anchor object, so that their height is equal to that of the anchor object.
