In layout mode, objects in the window can be "selected" by clicking on them. To select multiple objects, hold down the Shift key and click on an object to add it to the selection set. Selected objects are displayed within a rectangle outlined by eight "selection handles". To deselect an object, either select another object or click on the right mouse button. Placing the cursor within a selected object (i.e. not on a selection "handle") and holding down the left mouse button displays a "hand" cursor which enables the object to be moved to a new position. Release the left mouse button to complete a move operation. With the right mouse button held down, a rectangular "marquee selection" surrounding multiple objects can be defined, and all selected objects within the marquee rectangle can be moved as a group.
Placing the cursor on one of the selection "handles" and holding down the left mouse button displays a "resize" (directed arrows) cursor and enables the object to be resized horizontally, vertically, and diagonally depending on the handle selected. Release the left mouse button to complete a resize operation. Note that some form field objects are not resizeable by default, but can have this attribute activated using their attribute edit dialogs.
