Selecting Objects in the Display

Once added to the painting window, objects can be moved, edited, or deleted. To indicate the object that is the target of an operation, it must first be selected.

Making a Selection

Position the mouse cursor over one of the objects that you have added and click the left mouse button. Small brackets called selection handles appear around the object. Selection handles are used when performing operations such as sizing.

If You Don't Have A Mouse . . . Position the pointer over one of the objects you have added using the direction keys and press F7.

Changing a Selection

To make a new selection, click on a different object. Or, if you prefer, you can move around a window, selecting different objects in order, by pressing the Tab key. By continuing to press the Tab key, you return to the originally selected object.

If You Don't Have A Mouse . . . To make a new selection, simply position the pointer over a different object using the direction keys and press F7.

Selecting More Than One Object

To apply a given operation to more than one object at a time, do the following. To select multiple objects by a method called selection extension, first select an object in the usual way. Then press and hold the Shift key down while you click on the additional objects. Try selecting four or five objects among those you added.

If You Don't Have A Mouse . . . To select multiple objects by a method called selection extension, first select an object in the usual way. Then position the pointer over another object (using the direction keys) and press the Shift key sequence (defined in ZIMTCAP) and then F7. Additional fields can be selected in the same way.
