Migrating to Zim 9
This guide discusses the steps necessary to successfully migrate a Zim database from versions 4.x,5.x,6.x,7.x,or 8.x to Zim 9.
Migrating a Zim database is a quick, simple and safe process that does not alter the data in the original database.
The table below contains links to the documentation sections that will guide through the migration process:
the first column represents the version of the original Zim database;
the second and third columns contain links to the instructions to migrate the original Zim database to Zim 9 for Windows or Zim 9 for Unix.

*Note: As indicated in the table, a Zim 4.x 5.x or 6.x .7x database must be first converted to Zim 8.x and then to Zim 9.
If you don’t have Zim 8.x to perform the intermediary step, you will need to:
Obtain a temporary version of Zim 8.x full free of cost, directly from the Zim website.
