About the Export Wizard

< All Topics

The Export Wizard aids the developer in exporting an entire or partial application. The complete process involves the following steps

  • Save data from Data Objects, that is, entities and data relationships.

  • Export Meta Objects created with the Application Designer.

  • Save Framework Support Data, and optionally Meta Definitions used by the Application Designer.

  • Export Object Definitions from the Object Dictionary.

The Wizard also provides options for including document files and saving users.

All export files, data files, and document files are stored in the port directory, a child of the database path. All files are deleted from the port directory when an export process is initiated, that is, when the developer clicks the Finish button.

Framework Support Data

Framework Support Data includes

  • Application Titles

  • Application Messages

  • EventAction Mappings

  • State Transitions

In a developer’s environment, new records created in Framework tables can be exported to a master environment. The Export Wizard detects if there are customised entries, that is, entries that do not have the owner name system. System records are added when a database is initialized. Developers do not need to export system records unless they have made modifications. Therefore the Export Wizard excludes system records by default. However system records can be included by clearing the Exclude System Owned Framework Data check box.

Framework Support Data is saved to *.CMA files.
