Introduction to Zim Explore
What is Zim Explore?
Zim Explore is a simple yet powerful graphical management console that provides a single graphical user interface for configuring, monitoring and managing all Zim databases and all Zim Server machines in a Zim network.
The entire Zim network is represented as a treeview, with each Zim Server occupying one of the top child nodes in the tree.
The following utilities are available from Zim Explore‘s user interface:

| Activate Zim Products | Shows currently activated Zim products and activates new products |
| View Server Log | Displays the contents of the Zim Server log file: zimsvlog.zim |
| Manage User Connections | Shows all users to connected to all databases managed by the Zim Server running on the selected IP address |
| Zim Server Configuration | Shows the contents of the Zim Server configuration file: zimconfig.srv |
| View Zim Server Statistics | Shows Zim Server statistics on the selected IP address |
| View File Statistics | Shows statistics for each file for each of the databases managed by the selected Zim Server |
| Customize Database Language | Allows for the language customization of selected items such as days of the week, months, error messages, etc |
| Database Configuration | Displays the contents of the Zim Database configuration file: zimconfig.zim |
| View Database Objects | Provides an interface for browsing and querying database objects. |
The Zim Explore User Interface
The Zim Explore user interface is shown in the image below.
The user interface contains two main components:
✓ On the left, Zim Servers, Zim databases and database objects are organized in a hierarchical tree view.
✓ On the right, there is a an area where most information is displayed in a grid, whose contents depend on the utilities selected.
Each connected Zim Server machine in represented as a tree node (e.g., localhost).
Under each Zim Server tree node, there are tree nodes that represent shortcuts to utilities (e.g., Activation, Server Log, etc.) and a Databases tree node.
Under the Databases tree node, there are children tree nodes representing all Zim databases managed by the parent Zim Server.
Under each Zim database tree node, there are tree nodes that represent shortcuts to database utilities (e.g., Zim Language Customizer, Zim Configuration, etc.) and an Objects tree node.
Under the Objects tree node, there are children tree nodes representing all Zim database object categories.
If one of the object category tree nodes is clicked on, the Zim database objects of the selected category will be displayed in the Database Explorer grid.
