Using an Existing Form for Data Editing

< All Topics

After you have generated a single table edit or header/detail window, you can replace some of the generated forms (the ones generated from the table definitions) with existing forms that you have already specially formatted. To do this, use the following steps:

  • While in design mode for the window you wish to change, select the Paint action from the Design menu. Another window appears in which you select the specific view you wish to paint.

  • In the Screen Painter, select the form you wish to replace and delete it. Note that this does not destroy the form but removes it from the display.

  • Import the form you wish to use. Make any other changes such as moving the new form, resizing it, and so on.

  • Save your work. When you exit from the painter, the display is recreated.

This change are preserved over regeneration.
